Mike Eyster is the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. He served as the UO Housing Director from 1991-2008 and was Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs from 2001 until 2010. Mike also served as Interim Vice President for Student Affairs from 2005-2007 and Acting Vice President for Student Affairs until 2008. Mike served as Director of the University Health Center from 2008-2010. He holds a master’s degree in educational psychology and measurement and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Gregg Lobisser coordinates Student Affairs capital construction projects, and became Assistant Vice President on July 1, 2010. He came to the UO in 1979 as Director of Orientation and has also held positions in Admissions, Student Development, the Dean of Students Office, the Erb Memorial Union, and Student Affairs. Gregg has a B.A. in English Literature from Boston State College, and M.A. in English Literature from Indiana State University.

Paul Shang, Ph.D.

Dr. Paul Shang became Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students in April 2009. He has extensive experience in student affairs, primarily in the areas of serving students of color, student satisfaction and retention, academic advising, first-year seminars, student conduct, and orientation. Paul holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Florida State University as well as a bachelor’s degree in Government and Philosophy. He has received national recognition for his work and is a past president of ACPA, College Student Educators International.

Kathie Stanley

Kathie Stanley directs the Vice President’s administrative staff, and provides a broad range of executive support to the vice president in the areas of budget, personnel, operations, and information management. She began her career at the UO as Assistant to the Director of Admissions in 1986, and has worked for the Vice President’s office since 2002. Kathie has a B.S. in Journalism/Public Relations from the UO.

Dr. Michael Griffel became the Director of University Housing in August, 2010. Michael was previously at Bowling Green State University where, as Director of Residence Life, he served as the senior housing officer from 2007-2010. Michael was Director of University Residences at the University of Idaho from 1998‐2007 and Director of Residence Life and Housing at Robert Morris University from 1993-1998. Michael serves on the Association of College and University Housing Officer’s‐International (ACUHO‐I) Executive Board as the Workforce Development Director. Michael has a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Idaho, a Master’s of Education from The Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of General Studies from the University of Michigan.

Shelly Kerr, Ph.D.

Dr. Kerr first joined the Counseling and Testing Center (UCTC) staff in 2001 as the Director of Training. She was selected as the UCTC Director in 2008. Prior to her employment at the University of Oregon, Dr. Kerr served as staff psychologist at Washington State University Counseling Services. Dr. Kerr earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Washington State University, a master’s degree in College Student Personnel at Western Illinois University, and a bachelor’s degree in Communication/Business at Greenville College. She holds a license in Oregon to practice psychology. She is a member of the Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors and the Northwest Counseling Center Directors.

R. Kevin Marbury Ph.D.

Dr. R. Kevin Marbury became the Director of Physical Education and Recreation in July 2012. Kevin comes to the University of Oregon from Old Dominion University where he served as director for nearly 11 years. Kevin has worked at a number of institutions in Ohio, Texas, Florida and Virginia since beginning his career in higher education in 1980. He recently completed a two year term on the Board of Directors of the NIRSA, serving the last as the Association’s President. Kevin holds a bachelors degree from Earlham College, masters degree from North Texas State and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of North Texas.

Dana Mills

Dana Mills became the Director of the University Health Center in July 2010. Dana comes to the UO from Marquette University, where he served as the Director of Health Services. He has worked in college health since 1973 and he has served on the executive board of the American College Health Association (ACHA) and is a founding member of the Lookout Mountain Group, an association of health care professionals formed to ensure that health care for college students is a part of the national health care reform effort. Dana has also worked as an independent consultant conducting comprehensive reviews of student health centers. Dana has an MPH (Health Administration/Environmental Health) from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University.

Daniel Pascoe Aguilar Ph.D., M.Div.

Daniel Pascoe Aguilar was named Director of the Career Center on July 1, 2012. For over a decade, Daniel has led university career-service teams into a systemic paradigm of student/alumni meaningful decision-making and professional formation, as well as their strategic collaboration with university and community partners. Previously, Daniel served as executive director of Career Services at Seattle University, director of alumni career services and associate director of employer relations at the Career Center and Alumni Association of University of North Texas, senior associate director and chair of career courses at Indiana University, director of the crisis center for homeless families of the San Francisco County, and minister in diverse religious organizations of México and the US. He has completed three graduate degrees in the US: a PhD in Instructional Systems Technology, a Master of Divinity, and a Master of Science in Education, as well as a BA in Industrial Design from UAM in México.

Wendy Polhemus

Wendy Polhemus has served as the Interim Director of the Erb Memorial Union since 2010. Wendy is a long time resident of Eugene and earned her BS in Political Science and an MBA from the UO. She has spent most of her civilian career in supervision and project management within the local manufacturing sector. She also has had a full career in the Army. In May 2010, she completed a tour which included ten months as the Chief of Economics/Capacity Development for MultiNational Corps – Iraq in Baghdad.

Stan Dura is the Director of Student Affairs Assessment and Research and comes to the University of Oregon via Babson College and the University of Nevada Las Vegas. With degrees in psychology and student development, Stan has over 15 years of experience in Student Affairs, primarily in academic advising and residence life. Currently Stan is completing his doctoral degree in Educational Psychology from UNLV and chairing the Assessment Committee for the Association of College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHO-I).

Sheryl Eyster

Sheryl Eyster joined the University of Oregon in 1999 and currently serves as the Associate Dean of Students. Sheryl held various leadership positions in higher education over the past 30 years, including Director of Residence Life at Western Michigan University. Sheryl earned her master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and her undergraduate degree from the Department of Health Promotion and Education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She has been involved with numerous campus, community, and statewide initiatives and professional organizations throughout her career.

Hughes has served as Director of Student Affairs Financial Services since November 2011.  In this capacity, Hughes provides oversight of Student Affair budgets, provides financial planning & guidance for the decision-making in the Vice President’s office and contracting support for the Division.

In addition to serving as a full time administrator at Student Affairs Division, Hughes also serves as a guest instructor in business class in sections involving management, leadership, accounting, personal finance, and Motivation at Work at Northwest Christian University. Hughes holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration.

Chicora Martin

Chicora Martin joined the Division of Student Affairs in 2000 as the Director of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Education and Support Services. Chicora now also serves at the Assistant Dean of Students, working with Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, is co-coordinator of the Bias Response Team, and area director for the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence, which provides services for students of color, student veterans, nontraditional students, and other underserved student communities. Chicora has a Master’s degree from The Florida State University and is currently completing the dissertation phase as a doctoral candidate at Colorado State University in Educational Leadership.

Cleven Mmari directs Information Technology Services for the Division of Student Affairs. He started working for Student Affairs in 1993 as a student and, after graduation, joined the staff in 1995. Cleven has B.S. in Computer Information Science and Math from the UO.

Amy Quiring

Amy Quiring joined Student Affairs in November 2011 as the first Director of Centralized Scheduling. Amy’s work will focus on the development of a master campus calendar. Amy comes to the UO from Linn-Benton Community College where she served as the Academic Scheduling and Curriculum Coordinator in Academic Affairs. Prior to her work at Linn-Benton, she served as the graduate assistant academic advisor for Intercollegiate Athletics at Portland State University. She is currently completing her M.A. in Communication Studies from Portland State. Amy earned her B.A. in Behavioral Science as well as a post-baccalaureate minor in Athletic Administration from Oregon State University.

Marci Torres

Marci Torres is the first director of the UO Healthy Campus Initiative. She started in February 2011. Prior to arriving at the University of Oregon, Marci was the Associate Director of Campus Wellness at the University of South Carolina. Marci was a personal fitness instructor and served as the Health Promotion Coordinator for the U.S. Army in Korea, and as a military systems analyst in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs. She is a certified Personal Trainer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University and Master of Public Health degree from George Washington University.

Janice Langis has served as the Executive Assistant to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs since January 2010. Janice began her career at the UO as Executive Assistant to the Director of University Housing in 1997. She continued her role as Executive Assistant to the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs from 2005-2007.  Prior to coming to the University of Oregon, Janice was the Executive Assistant and Office Manager to the Director of Residence Life at the University of Southern Maine from 1994-1997.

Shannon Rose joined Student Affairs as Executive Assistant to the Vice President in October 2012. She has worked at the University of Oregon since February 2001, first in University Development, then moving to the Office of Strategic Communications in 2005. Prior to joining the university, she lived and worked in Portland, OR. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Willamette University in 1997.

Sarah Smith-Benanti joined the Division of Student Affairs as the Development Assistant in September, 2011. She was a student leader and activist during her graduate program in Forestry at Utah State University (USU). She left Utah for Tennessee to help start the Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Life at Vanderbilt University as the Program Coordinator from 2008-2010. She returned to USU and managed the soil microbiology laboratory there for 6 years.

Debbie Turetzky has served as an Executive Assistant in Student Affairs since October 2007. She joined the University of Oregon in January 2006, providing administrative support at the Center on Teaching and Learning. Prior to joining the university, she provided executive level administrative and project support to the founders of a start-up management consulting firm committed to creating sustainable breakthrough performance in San Francisco, California and Austin, Texas.
